Who are we?
We come from
the historic Peace Church tradition whose roots are traced back to the
Anabaptist movement of the 16th century Reformation.
We take seriously the non-violent way of Jesus and New Testament
faith and seek to live out this way in our lives, pursuing
reconciliation, healing and well being in our personal relationships,
our community and across the nation and the globe.
Our beliefs
and practices include the following:
·
We hold many
common core beliefs and practices with other mainline and evangelical
denominations.
·
We believe
that God has called the church to share the Good News of Jesus in word
and deed.
·
We practice
adult or “believers” baptism, seeing baptism as a voluntary public
commitment to identify with and follow Jesus.
·
We believe
in giving ultimate loyalty to God rather than to any nation,
organization or any form of military service.
·
Community
life and being mutually accountable through the giving and receiving of
counsel is central to our understanding and practice of being the
Church.
·
We encourage
and seek to live out a life of service that pursues the well being of
others.
